About the Artist

Barbara Panico - Biography

A little about me

I spent countless hours strolling the beach's of North Truro as a child on summer vacations and then later in Sandwich and Eastham when we started to bring our own children to cape Cod. On these walks I collected hundreds of shells and pieces of sea glass. As the size of my collection grew I began to photograph what I loved And leave it behind on the beach. These photos have been my inspiration for many of me recent works with shells, rocks and sea creatures.

While studying nursing at Fairfield University I found time to take art classes with Peter Gish and was able to keep up with my art while working, getting married and raising my family. Since retiring from nursing I have spent the past 10 years working with acrylics, soft pastels and now back to oils as I had started at the age of 14.

I have been a juried member of the Cape Cod Art Center for several years and serve on its Board of Directors.
